LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Former “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken, who has gone onto a singing career, said his “dear friend,” music producer Jaymes Foster, gave birth on Friday to a son fathered by Aiken.
Aiken, 29, wrote on his Web site that his child, named Parker Foster Aiken, was born at a hospital in North Carolina.
“My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken,” he said.

The 29-year-old crooner from Raleigh announced the birth of Parker Foster Aiken on his website’s blog Friday.
“No hyphens. One first name,” he wrote. “One middle name. One last name.”
Aiken’s mother, Faye, told Raleigh TV station WRAL the child was born in North Carolina.
Aiken was a favorite of fans during the second season of
American Idol,
where he finished second to Ruben Studdard. His album

NEW YORK —  Clay Aiken is the father of a baby boy, his mother Faye told WRAL in Raleigh on Friday.
Parker Foster Aiken, who weighed 6 pounds 2 ounces and was 19 inches long, was born at 8:08 Friday morning in an undisclosed North Carolina location, and Aiken’s mother told WRAL that the baby has dark hair and her son is smiling from ear-to-ear.
The “American Idol” runner-up, 29, who recently starred on Broadway in “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” confirmed the news on his blog, writing: “My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name.”

Clay Aiken’s BFF and baby mama has given birth to a boy, Parker Foster Aiken. This is the “American Idol” runner-up’s first child.
Producer Jaymes Foster, whom Clay met on “Idol,” welcomed baby Parker this morning in North Carolina. Clay’s mother, Faye, called
WRAL
to report that the child has dark hair and Clay is “smiling from ear-to-ear.”
Clay, 29, currently starring in “Spamalot,” has said he plans to raise the child with Jaymes. This is expected to be a big day for Claymates.
