‘Idol’ rocks ratings, but WFTV rules Orlando

Jordin Sparks delivered a show-stopping turn, in several respects, on the
season finale of Fox’s American Idol. She scored an average audience of 30.7 million with her victory Wednesday,
Nielsen Media Research said Thursday. Although that large audience is impressive in today’s crowded TV
environment, the number suggested that the public could be tiring of the
singing contest. That’s quite a drop from the 36.4 million who watched Taylor
Hicks win last year.
