, it was the show’s technical decision that pushed O’Donnell over the edge. “I said, ‘What was it really?’” recalled Griffin. “‘The split-screen.” She said, ‘I don’t want to do “Hannity and Colmes.”

Reality TV: America, Jordin’s your Idol — and the youngest yet

America, you have your Idol. Congratulations to Jordin Sparks, winner of Fox’s sixth “American Idol.” After a record-breaking 74 million votes cast Tuesday night, Jordin is declared the winner. The 17-year-old is the show’s youngest record deal winning contestant. Her powerful rendition of the season’s first single, “This is My Now,” locks her into the top spot, edging out beatboxer Blake Lewis.

‘Idol’ rocks ratings, but WFTV rules Orlando

Jordin Sparks delivered a show-stopping turn, in several respects, on the
season finale of Fox’s American Idol. She scored an average audience of 30.7 million with her victory Wednesday,
Nielsen Media Research said Thursday. Although that large audience is impressive in today’s crowded TV
environment, the number suggested that the public could be tiring of the
singing contest. That’s quite a drop from the 36.4 million who watched Taylor
Hicks win last year.
