Keith Olbermann Slams Anderson Cooper’s Silence on Sexuality

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Anderson Cooper isn’t just feeling the heat from the gay community about his decision to keep his sexuality off the table for discussion. If
Out
magazine’s “Glass Closet” cover story
wasn’t enough for the CNN anchor,
Michael Jensen of AfterElton makes note of a
New York
magazine profile this week on MSNBC commentator Keith Olbermann
. Olbermann, citing a
Men’s Journal
article in which Anderson refuses to discuss his sexuality, calls foul on Anderson’s non-disclosure.

I love bad lyrics like a fat kid loves cake

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

I’ve always been convinced that no one would ever write lyrics weirder than Led Zeppelin’s “If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow, don’t be alarmed now …” which we all sang along to in the `70s because “Stairway to Heaven” was so awesome it didn’t matter that the words made no sense.
The same was true of The Steve Miller Band’s wretchedly wonderful songs, most famously this line from “Take the Money and Run”: “Billy Mack’s a detective down in Texas. You know he knows just what the facts is.” Texas? Facts is?

Tattle | Readers have plenty to say about Imus

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Associated Press file photo Kate Beckinsale (above) is flat-out jealous of Queen Latifah. THE GREAT THING about writing a daily column is the immediate feedback you get when you write something with which people disagree. (Hardly anyone writes when agreeing with you.)

Need a fix to stop the achin’ for Aiken?

Friday, April 6th, 2007

“I feel like (American) Idol is a drug of some kind,” our fresh-faced
junkie told People this week. He then goes on to say that he hasn’t watched
this season at all. Good for you, Clay. If you can kick it, there’s hope for us all. We’re
going to lock ourselves in a room right now, huddle up in the fetal position,
and renounce all Idol pleasures. Except for your Aug. 19 concert at Hard Rock Live. That’s OK, right? It
will be more like a support group.

Are ‘American Idol’ singers too similar?

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

LaKisha Jones, shown, is one of the better “American Idol” singers, but the divide between the top talent and the mediocre singers is too great this year.
COMMENTARY
By By Linda Holmes
MSNBC contributor
Any show that has been successful for as long as “American Idol” provokes regular declarations that it’s peaked and that it’s all downhill from here. No season has drawn as much criticism as this one, and it’s hard to deny that something about the current competition seems off.

Is No. 1 Barney Fife? No. You love Lucy

Snapping past whipper-snappers like the savvy veteran that she is, Lucy Ricardo climbed triumphantly to the top of our television heap, taking home the title of “Greatest TV Character of All Time.”
Ricardo, whose “I Love Lucy” is one of the most enduring shows in the history of the medium, clobbered Jack Bauer of “24″ in the championship round of our bracket-style competition.
Although the outcome was perhaps unsurprising, the margin certainly was. Of the more than 900 votes included in our final tally, Ricardo was picked as the winner on 273 of them. Barney Fife, the home-state folk hero who finished as champion on the second-most brackets, managed only 99.
